SettlePact

Crypto escrow, without a middleman

When you trade crypto with someone you don't know, one of you has to go first, and that's where scams happen. With SettlePact, both sides lock their part in a smart contract. It pays each person automatically, or gives everyone their money back.

  • No account or ID check
  • SettlePact never holds your funds
  • Full refund if the deal doesn't complete
  • 0.30% per side

What is crypto escrow?

Escrow means a neutral party holds both sides of a deal until each person has delivered, so nobody has to trust the other. Traditional escrow companies do this with a bank account and staff who review each deal, which takes days and usually costs 2–3% or more.

Crypto escrow can do the same job with a smart contract: a program on the blockchain that holds the deposits and follows fixed rules. On SettlePact, those rules are simple. When both deposits arrive, each person is paid. If one side doesn't arrive in time, everyone gets their own deposit back. No person decides, and nobody can take the money in between.

How a SettlePact deal works

1

Create the deal

Enter what you send, what you get back, and the wallet you receive into. You get a private link to send to the other person.

2

Both deposit

Each of you sends your side to your own deposit address on the deal page, from any wallet or exchange.

3

Automatic payout

Once both deposits arrive, both payouts go out together, usually within a minute or two. If the 30-minute timer runs out first, everyone is refunded.

Why a smart contract instead of an escrow company?

Nobody holds your money

Your deposit sits in a vault that can do only two things: pay the receiving wallets written into the deal, or refund you. SettlePact can't move it anywhere else.

Refunds don't depend on us

Once the timer runs out, anyone can trigger the refund directly on the blockchain, so you get your money back even if our website goes offline.

Every address can be checked

Each deposit address is calculated from the deal's exact terms. Paste any address into Verify address before you send, to confirm it's a genuine SettlePact vault.

A fraction of the cost

With no bank account to run or deals to review by hand, fees are 0.30% per side. A $10,000 deal costs $60 in total, against $240 on Escrow.com's standard fee.

What you can trade

Crypto for crypto, with another person

Swap one token for another with someone you met online, in a Telegram group or through an OTC desk. Supported: USDC, USDT, ETH, wrapped BTC and DAI on Base, Arbitrum One, Optimism and Polygon, and USDT, USDC, BNB, ETH, BTCB and DAI on BNB Smart Chain. Both people use the network chosen for the deal.

Crypto for cash, paid by bank transfer

The seller locks the crypto. The buyer pays an exact amount by bank transfer, and when Wise or Revolut emails the seller that the money arrived, the seller forwards that email. Its digital signature, the amount and the sender's name are checked before the crypto is released to the buyer. Payments in USD, EUR and GBP are supported.

Crypto-for-cash deals are paused for now while we upgrade how bank payments are checked. Deals between two people and instant swaps work as usual.

Instant swaps

Not trading with a person? You can also swap tokens on your own at market price for 0.40%.

What it costs

Deals between two people cost 0.30% per side, falling to 0.15% per side from $50,000, with a $1.00 minimum. The fee comes out of the deal itself, and refunded or cancelled deals are free.

How to stay safe in any crypto deal

  • Never send first to someone you don't know. That's exactly what escrow is for.
  • Only use addresses from the deal page. If anyone sends you an address in a chat, check it with Verify address first.
  • Send exactly the token and network shown. Crypto sent on a different network may not be recoverable.
  • Share the deal link only with the other person. Anyone with the link can see the amounts and wallets.
  • Beware of fake "escrow agents" in group chats. A real smart-contract escrow never needs a person to hold your funds.
